Simon has many years experience of machinery operation, maintenance and troubleshooting. He has presented over 140 training courses in condition monitoring, vibration & balancing, reliability and FMECA, and installed CMMS at over 25 organisations. He has actively participated in condition monitoring standardisation since 1986, project managing ISO 17359, and has been closely involved in the development of ISO 18436-2 – Vibration accreditation, and the UK’s accreditation initiative with BINDT.
A graduate of London University, he joined Rolls Royce at their Industrial & Marine Gas Turbine division working on design and development of marine gas turbine fuel systems. He spent eight years as a Marine Engineering Officer with the British Royal Navy, then four years with the vibration monitoring & analysis division of Schenck and 15 years at Manchester University’s consultancy spin-off, Wolfson Maintenance.
In 2007 Simon joined AV Technology, managing their BINDT PCN accreditation for Level 1 and 2 Vibration Analyst Training and Certification. In addition to external and internal training services, he manages key consultancy and benchmarking projects and provides technical input to Spi–VR®, whilst continuing with British & International Standards project management and development.
